1. Who you are contracting with.

Your agreement is with Silas (Profe Silas), a sole proprietor trading as profesilas — an individual, not a company. Lessons are taught remotely from Cofradía, Cortés, Honduras. For legal notices, the operator's address of record is in Minnesota, United States.

2. What the service is.

Live, one-to-one remote English tutoring for adults. It is not a course, a certification, a school, or an exam-preparation guarantee. There is a student area at /app. Creating an account does not book a class. The portal is not a price menu. The placement diagnostic is not a class and it is not priced. Book remains the public calendar.

3. Who may book.

The curriculum is currently designed for adult learners, and tutoring is available only to adult students — you must be 18 or older, and you book for yourself. When you create an account, you affirm that you are the person who will take the class and that you are 18 or older. Bookings made on behalf of another person, including any minor, are cancelled without charge. If we learn a booking or an account is for a minor, we refuse it and wipe the account, the artifacts, and the diagnostic.

3a. Student work and the student area.

Work you send on /app is visible to Profe Silas for teaching. The primary purpose of the placement diagnostic (the student's answers and the work text they paste) is that Profe Silas reads it and places teaching. The primary purpose of essay drafts, quiz attempts, homework, and flashcard progress is that Profe Silas reads assigned work and teaches. The diagnostic is placement, not a lesson. Logout ends the session. You may ask us to delete the account, the artifacts, and the diagnostic. Creating an account does not book a class. Book remains the public calendar.

4. Prices.

Lesson prices are dynamic — the same length does not always cost the same. The price you are shown on this site, or quoted directly, is the price honored for that session (quotes valid 48 hours unless a shorter window is stated). Prices depend on the session, not on who is asking. Prices shown are all-in.

4a. Confirming your place.

When you book, you receive a confirmation email. Confirming tells me you'll be there — and it makes your place firm. Until you confirm, your booking is provisional: I may release the time if someone else asks for it, or if the session is close and I have not heard from you. Confirming also earns you a discount on that session: 10% off if you confirm at least 24 hours before it starts, or 5% off if you confirm at least 12 hours before. One discount per session, applied to the invoice sent after the class. If the confirmation email never reaches you, tell me before the session — I will make your place firm and apply the discount you would have earned.

5. Paying.

You pay after the class. I send the payment link after the session. Payment is by PayPal only. At most one prepaid, undelivered session may be open at a time. There are no multi-session packages.

6. Cancelling, rescheduling, and no-shows.

Because payment comes after the session, cancelling costs you nothing — no fee, no forfeited credit. Please give as much notice as you can so the time can be reused. If the tutor cancels or does not appear, you owe nothing and the session is rescheduled at your convenience. If a session is not delivered, it is not billed.

7. Refunds.

Sessions are billed only after they are delivered, so there is normally nothing to refund. If you are ever billed for a session that did not happen, tell us and we will correct it.

8. What we do not promise.

No guaranteed scores, timelines, visas, jobs, or exam results. Progress in a language depends on your own practice.

9. Your responsibilities.

Show up on time, with a working connection, ready to speak. Treat sessions as you would any professional appointment.

10. Limits.

This is a tutoring service provided as-is by an individual. Liability is limited to the amount you paid for the session in question.

11. Changes.

Updated terms are posted here. Changes do not apply retroactively to a session already booked at a quoted price.
